HL7 FHIR Connectathon

What is a FHIR Connectathon?

An HL7 FHIR Connectathon is a collaborative, hands-on event focusing on developing and testing the HL7® FHIR® specification—including resources, profiles and implementation guides (IGs). 

This US-focused event is designed for community members who can’t travel internationally.

The goal of a Connectathon is to:

• Prove that FHIR specifications are complete and implementable

• Test real-world interoperability

• Advance the maturity of FHIR Implementation Guides

Connectathons play a critical role in ensuring that FHIR standards work in practice—not just on paper.

The FHIR Connectathon Approach 

The FHIR community’s vision is to enable global healthcare interoperability through the use of FHIR, ultimately driving better health outcomes worldwide.

Who Participates?

FHIR Connectathons bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, including:

• Health IT vendors

• Healthcare providers

• Payers and administrators
  

• Government and public health participants

• Authors and contributors to the FHIR specification

Participants work side by side in a hands-on environment to test implementations against FHIR standards and IGs.
